pre-construction (insurance claims)

Settle the Value Prior to Starting Work

If you are a contractor that has typically refused insurance work, we know it's for good reason !

Contracting in the non-insurance world requires an incredible amount of time and money to gain experience in the field and in business in order to even get licensed, bonded, insured, rent an office, buy vehicles and equipment, purchase expensive tools, advertise, solicit qualified leads, and secure an appointment, all that just to get in front of a potential customer!

Even a "kitchen table" estimate requires endless hours of collecting and updating material, labor, overhead, and profit costs behind the scenes on a continuous scale.

Should the contractor decide to take on an insurance restoration project, that same "kitchen table" estimate morphs into an animal all its own with 10x the work, all for no extra pay!

For example, the contractor must now spend money to lease the insurance companies estimating system, then spend money on training to learn how to use it, spend more money to work through the systems learning curve to become efficient (or simply produce an estimate).

An hour or less at site to produce that same one-page kitchen table estimate turns into many hours at site collecting data that the computerized system needs to produce a now 10-page computerized estimate with another 10-pages of accompanying photographs, and with the click of a button the estimate is delivered instantly to the insurance adjusters' desk, whew!

Now common-sense dictates that the contractor can now move on to other projects while waiting for the checks are written so work can be scheduled, but not so!

Inevitably the insurance adjuster will have questions, why is your estimate more than his, what are these line items for, certain items or clumps of work are not covered under the policy, more photographs are needed, the list is endless, and the additional hours are long and donated.

If that were all not bad enough, it's becoming more and more common that after all the haggling and hoop-jumping is done, the insurance company decides to send another adjuster, their own contractor, or an engineer, and guess who needs to be there to walk them through?

If you are a contractor that would like to take on some insurance work, but would rather not give away your time and money on all the extra free work required of an insurance project, call AICS and we can talk about the different ways we can help by get the claim to the point where money is in the bank and you can do the work you love, constructing !

Adjusters with Contracting in their blood, that's AICS, and we can help contractors and homeowners get their projects completed without all the hands-on headaches.
